The Aldi Cart Hack For The Days You Don't Remember A Quarter
By Stacie Adams
At Aldi, customers must deposit a quarter into a small slot to release a shopping cart. Upon returning the cart, the customer will receive their deposited quarter back.
While you should always try to come to Aldi prepared with a cart quarter, don't be too hard on yourself if you don't have one. Instead, you can ask a staff member for one.
Customers claim that this trick is quite successful and that the staff supports it because it prevents people from placing random items into the slot to release a cart.
According to one Reddit thread, this Aldi hack is actually encouraged, and each staff member is allowed to distribute up to $5 in cart quarters every shift.
Of course, not all locations follow the same rules, so your nearest Aldi may have different policies. In such cases, you can always consult a fellow shopper.
Many are happy to share their cart when another customer is in need, and you can continue this positive cycle by passing on the cart to the next customer.
