Soak Your Rusty Canning Rings In Vinegar And Thank Us Later
By Laura Zbinden
A rusty canning ring can completely ruin your canned goods, but thankfully, vinegar is a simple solution to rusty canning rings.
If you have a lot of rusty rings, you may want to soak them all in vinegar first to make it easier to brush off the rust later.
However, if you have only a few canning rings with some spots of rust, soak a washcloth or paper towel in distilled white vinegar and rub away unwanted rusty spots.
No matter which method you use, Farmer's Almanac warns that you will need to wash the canning rings well with water after cleaning the rust.
Distilled white vinegar is a powerful cleaning agent, but if you don't wipe it off your canning ring once you're done sterilizing it, it will damage the metal.
