Should You Cleanse Strawberries With Vinegar?
By Laura Zbinden
Vinegar sounds like a natural solution to protect your family from these harmful pesticides, but as it turns out, washing your strawberries in cold water is just as effective.
In an interview with Best Food Fact, two Auburn University professors said that washing fruits with cool and clean water will remove almost all present bacteria.
Furthermore, according to the University of Minnesota, the pesticides that might still be on store-bought fruits and vegetables are easily washed away with water.
You can still use vinegar if you want some extra peace of mind, and it is a better option than other fruit-cleaning soaps on the market, which may contain harsh chemicals.
If you want to extend the shelf-life of strawberries, there is some evidence that vinegar can help your strawberries stay fresher for longer.
