Scissors Are All You Need For The Best Chopped Salad
By Elaina Friedman
A defining feature of a chopped salad is evenly-chopped vegetables that are bite-sized and easy to eat, and kitchen shears or scissors can facilitate this preparation process.
To achieve perfect uniform bites, chop up your lettuce, bell peppers, and other forgiving vegetables with shears. You might be surprised by how much it speeds up the process.
You can use regular craft scissors if you clean them thoroughly, but kitchen shears are specifically designed for culinary use and have removable steel blades for easy cleaning.
For a chopped salad, go with greens that have a little crunch. Green leaf lettuce, iceberg, and kale are all excellent contenders, and they're all easy to chop with shears.
Kitchen shears are also great for cutting fresh herbs that might otherwise stick to your fingers and cutting board. Toss some herbs in your chopped salad for extra flavor.
