Ricotta Is The Star Ingredient For Making Ultra-Juicy Meatballs In Your Air Fryer
By Ashlyn Frassinelli
Meatballs can easily dry out, especially when using an intense heat source like an air fryer. A great way to incorporate fat, lots of flavor, and moisture is to add ricotta cheese.
Full-fat ricotta is a high-moisture, high-fat cheese whose consistency blends well into a meatball mix. It adds a mild flavor, texture, milkiness, saltiness, and richness.
The moisture and fat in ricotta make it an ideal addition to a juicy meatball. As the air fryer's heat cooks the meatballs, the cheese ensures they won't fully dry out.
Even under the harsh heat of the air fryer, a meatball infused with ricotta will stay moist and tender, producing a finished dish with a crisp exterior and a soft inside.
Most meatball recipes contain some form of fat or other moisture, whether a splash of milk or another type of flavorful liquid, but ricotta meatballs are plenty moist.
