Revamp Your Oatmeal With One Fruity, Flavorful Addition
By Heather Newman
Adding apple butter to your next bowl of oatmeal is a surefire way to elevate it, as even small amounts of it can offer a lot of flavor with surprisingly little effort.
Apple butter is made from slowly cooked apples that are soft and caramelized. They’re then cooked even more until they’re left with a thick texture and sweet, caramel flavor.
Beyond lending your bowl of oatmeal a depth of flavor, apple butter can tie the other flavors in your bowl together and add density — just add a little scoop to your bowl.
You can also try adding apple butter to your next batch of oatmeal cookies for a subtle apple flavor, or add some between the layers of an oatmeal bar for a dessert-like treat.
