Queen Elizabeth Loved These 2 Special Egg Additions
By Madalyn Mackarey
Nutmeg and lemon zest in scrambled eggs might sound like a strange combination of ingredients, but that’s exactly how Queen Elizabeth II liked them to be prepared.
Shortly after the Queen died in 2022, nutritionist Lee Holmes revealed on her website that a close friend of hers once cooked for the Queen and prepared her eggs this way.
Nutmeg adds an undertone of warmth and slight sweetness, while the lemon zest adds a light but bright twist. Together, they bring a new level of excitement to scrambled eggs.
A dash of nutmeg and a teaspoon of lemon zest are added to the eggs at the end of the cooking process, just before they’re fully set. The result is scrambled eggs fit for a Queen.
