Martha Stewart Has A Trick For Preventing Soggy Waffles
By Kelly Douglas
"Never eat soggy waffles" was the way many of us learned to remember north, east, south, and west, but it’s pretty solid life advice, too. A limp waffle can take all the fun out of breakfast, but luckily, celebrity chef Martha Stewart has the perfect method for preventing soggy waffles.
To do Martha Stewart’s waffle hack, make your waffle batter as usual before pouring it into the waffle iron, and when your waffle is finished cooking, get it out with a fork and toss it from hand to hand. This allows any steam inside the waffle to escape and will keep it nice and crispy as you eat it.
You’ll see steam as your waffles cook, but that’s normal, as the cooking process releases the liquid in the batter as steam. If any steam is stuck inside of your waffles, you'll notice that they are coming out moister than you'd like and they'll get soggy quickly, which you can prevent in a flash with Stewart’s method.
