Mountain Dew has a loyal following of fans who love its distinct taste, but some of them find it hard to describe the exact flavor.

Some say Mountain Dew’s flavor is citrusy sweet with hints of lemon, lime, and orange, while parent company PepsiCo says it has a “one-of-a-kind citrus taste.”

PepsiCo made the flavor even harder to describe by introducing variations of Mountain Dew over the years, all of which have the original’s citrusy-base with distinct differences.

Some of the most popular variations include Mountain Dew Voltage, Mountain Dew White Out, Mountain Dew Pitch Black, Mountain Dew Baja Blast, and Mountain Dew Kickstart.

Baja Blast mixes the classic Mountain Dew flavor with pineapple and mango for a tropical taste, while Pitch Black adds a hint of grape that gives it a richer taste.

Then there’s Mountain Dew Code Red, which adds cherry to the classic citrus flavor. It’s worth noting that in some countries, the soda has less caffeine which may alter the taste.
