Is It A Great Idea To Make Guacamole From Frozen Avocados?
By Stacie Adams
Freezing food can change its consistency due to the formation of ice crystals. As a result, frozen avocado isn't suited to all preparations, but it works beautifully as guacamole.
In guacamole, the texture variation will hardly be noticeable once the avocado is smashed and incorporated with your favorite ingredients.
Frozen avocados can also retain their quality for three to six months, which means you should always have some hanging around your freezer for some easy chips and guac.
You can thaw an avocado by transferring it from the freezer to the fridge and leaving it overnight or defrost it in about an hour by exposing it to room temperature.
If you choose the room temperature method, be sure to make and eat the guacamole right away to ensure optimal taste.
Avoid using the microwave to defrost it, as this can negatively impact the flavor and texture of your guacamole.
