Indianapolis' St. Elmo Steak House Is One Of The Most Romantic Restaurants In America
By Julia Mullaney
Valentine’s Day is one of the most romantic days and a popular time to dine out, and OpenTable has released a list of the most romantic restaurants in 2023. As the only steakhouse on the list, St. Elmo Steak House in Indianapolis is a staple in the city and is one of America’s most romantic dinner date spots.
Incepted in 1902, St. Elmo Steak House was founded by Joe Stahr as a small tavern and is now owned by the father-son duo Stephen and Craig Huse. Although the bar area retains a tavern-like appearance, the dimly lit, romantic atmosphere of the restaurant features white-clothed tables, wood-paneled walls, and servers and bartenders in formal tuxedos, adding to the upscale grandeur.
Boasting a rating of 4.8 on OpenTable, 4.5 on TripAdvisor, and 4 on Yelp, those looking for the most romantic dinner should be prepared to spend a pretty penny, as the menu features items like a shrimp cocktail dish for $17.95, USDA prime ribeye for $85, a porterhouse for $95, and Tom-a-Hawk ribeye for $135. A basic Béarnaise sauce costs $5, an extra lobster tail on the steak costs $55, and side dishes range from $9 to $35.
