Incorporate Some Pumpkin Puree To Your Boxed Cake Mix For A Deliciously Dense Twist
By Jessica Fleming-Montoya

Autumn is the season of pumpkin-flavored goodies. Instead of making time-consuming treats, simply add some pumpkin puree to your favorite boxed cake mix for a moist treat.
spice cake batter in mixing bowl
Many bakers love using spice cake boxed mix since it already has cinnamon and spices in the dry batter, but you can get creative with other flavors like chocolate or yellow cake.

Pumpkin puree is not the same as pumpkin pie filling, which has additional spices and sugar mixed in. Add one whole 15-ounce can of the puree to your entire box of cake mix.

Some bakers only add one cup of puree to their prepared batter. While some report that the cake is fairly fluffy, others feel it has a more dense, play-dough-like consistency.

You can also create other treats with this batter. Rather than baking it in a cake tin, pour it into a muffin tin with chopped nuts or chocolate chips for delicious autumn muffins.
