If You're Not Broiling Your Frozen Pizza, You're Really Missing Out
By Erin Metz
It's all too common to underbake your frozen pizza, realize it's still cold in the middle, put it back in the oven, and burn it. The simple solution is to broil it instead.
Broiling your frozen pizza for a few minutes before serving gives the toppings added crispiness without a hint of char. However, broiling it alone results in a less optimal meal.
It's important to bake your pizza prior to broiling it so that the crust will fully cook before giving the cheese and toppings a crispy texture and smoky flavor.
The broil function is very similar to a grill, using dry heat to cook. Unlike baking, which surrounds your food with warm air to cook evenly, broiling cooks from the top down.
You also want to be careful not to broil your pizza for too long after you've baked it, as it can quickly burn the top of your pizza if you aren't keeping a watchful eye.
