If You're Looking For A Richer Coffee Experience, Try A Breve
By Molly Wilson
Branch out from normal coffee and try a breve, an Americanized version of a latte. A latte is made with espresso and steamed milk, while a breve is made with steamed half-and-half.
Breve is rich and fluffy with a velvety texture due to the milk and cream mixture. It can easily be made at home by first steaming half-and-half.
Aerate it to introduce air into the dairy and get the fluffy foam layer by holding the steamer wand close to the surface of half-and-half.
Alternate between keeping the wand near the surface for a few seconds and submerging it halfway into the half-and-half until you create the right amount of foam.
Both the foam and espresso are essential parts of breve. Finely ground fresh, whole beans, then elevate the espresso by using filtered water.
