How To Clean A Stand Mixer And Make It Look Brand-New
By C.A. Pinkham
Over time, small food particles can collect and harden in your stand mixer's crevices, but thankfully, you don't need any special tools or cleaning products to make it look new.
Toothbrushes can clean almost any hard-to-get-at surface and are key to scrubbing deep into the grime that collects around the knobs on the mixer.
After wiping the surface with a cloth, a toothbrush will take care of any food caked to the mixer head. Then, use a cotton swab to wipe around the crevice at the base.
Be sure to clean the underside of the mixer and the pads on the bottom used to hold the apparatus in place, as food can collect and cause the device to lose stability.
You should clean your stand mixer's bowl and attachments thoroughly between each use. Start by soaking them in soapy water to soften the mess, and gently scrub out the bowl.
If the attachments are dishwasher-safe, put them in the dishwasher and dry everything by hand at the end of the process, as leaving water on the surface can cause rust and mildew.
