How Many Scoops Of Coffee Are Needed For The Perfect Cup?
By Tom Maxwell
When it comes to brewing a perfect cup of coffee, the first thing to master is the coffee-to-water ratio, which is generally 2 tablespoons of ground coffee per 8 ounces of water.
The coffee-to-water ratio is the most basic step because it matters irrespective of bean origin, roast darkness, grind coarseness, or brewing methodology.
If you use a higher coffee-to-water ratio (like with espresso), you get a stronger, more intense cup — but the brewing process has to be relatively quick.
Brewing the same amount in a French press for five minutes would result in a cup that tastes like hyper-caffeinated charcoal water — bitter, over-extracted, and undrinkable.
