How Alex Guarnaschelli Elevates Her Butter For Bread Rolls
By Ashley Reut
Chef Alex Guarnaschelli from the Food Network knows about being a great cook, sharing her tips and tricks on Instagram so you can elevate your cooking game. Recently, she posted about humble bread and butter and how to make it seem restaurant-quality right in your home.
Regardless of the type of butter you choose, you can use a butter board (basically just a fancy excuse to eat butter with bread or crackers) to elevate your ingredient creatively. Simply spread your butter artfully on a plate or wood, sprinkle with toppings of your choice, and serve.
If you don't want to use the butter board, simply let your choice of butter get to room temperature, so it's easy to spread, then sprinkle the top with some crisp sea salt and give it a healthy coat of fresh cracked black pepper. Serve it with warm and toasty bread and a knife, and watch as your guests savor your restaurant-style bread and butter.
If time isn’t on your side and you need to have your butter ready in just minutes, slice your butter, fill a bowl with water, and microwave it until it bubbles. Carefully dump out the hot water, invert the bowl over the stick of butter on a plate (or just microwave warm butter— without the water), and let the steamy indirect heat soften the butter in just a few minutes.
