Here's How The Olive Garden Logo Has Evolved Throughout The Years
By Ariana DiValentino
While Olive Garden's Italian-inspired, family-friendly concept and the general aesthetic of its logo have remained consistent over the years, the execution and look have changed.
When the first Olive Garden opened in 1982, the logo was a handwritten-style script in kelly green, reading "the Olive Garden." In 1989, the words "Italian Restaurant" were added.
The next change came in 1998 when the signature got a slight drop shadow. The words "Olive" and "Garden" were stacked on each other, and an illustration of grapes was added.
The "Italian Restaurant" text lost its serifs and turned purple to match the grapes. Most significantly, "the" was dropped from the beginning of "Olive Garden."
The design became much more fleshed out a year later, with detailed shading and a stucco-like golden brown background.
When the brand switched to its current logo in 2014, the imitation of Tuscan architecture was replaced with a cleaner, minimalist interior and exterior.
