Guy Fieri's First Food Business Was On The Back Of His Bike
By Elias Nash
Ever since winning the second season of "Next Food Network Star,” Guy Fieri has rocketed to fame at an astounding pace, becoming arguably the face of culinary television. Fieri's rise to glory happened in a flash, but the megastar chef has been in the food game for longer than you might think, and his journey had humble origins.
When Fieri was 10, he was on a family vacation to Lake Tahoe when he saw a vendor selling hot pretzels topped with salt and mustard, and he loved the taste of them so much that he spent his entire allowance on the snacks. Recognizing this obsession, his dad encouraged Fieri to make some cash by selling pretzels back in Ferndale.
Before returning, Fieri enquired with the vendor about his suppliers, but when he refused to answer, Fieri rummaged through their dumpster and found a box that revealed the name of the pretzel manufacturer. He then returned to Ferndale where his father built him a pretzel cart on the back of a three-wheeled bicycle, dubbed “The Awesome Pretzel Cart,” which was his first business.
