A rare steak should match the firmness of your cheeks, medium doneness should be similar to your chin's firmness, and well-done meat is less-yielding, like your forehead.

While you can determine how cooked a steak is by measuring its internal temperature with a meat thermometer, Ramsay's method is a great alternative if you don't have the tool.
