Freshly's Meal Delivery Service Run Is Officially Ending

Meal-kit delivery services really took off when the COVID-19 pandemic hit. However, as grocery stores reopened and the threat of the coronavirus was quelled by vaccines and boosters, many subscribers no longer needed these services, leading to one company shutting down its business.
In December 2022, Freshly updated its website with the news of its demise, saying, "It is with a heavy heart that we announce the Freshly meal delivery service will be ceasing operations." Freshly subscribers can continue to place orders through January 17, 2023, and the final shipping day will be January 21.
Despite the huge corporate sponsorship from Nestlé in 2020, Freshly found itself in even murkier waters than its competitors just two years into the acquisition. Freshly entered the meal-kit ring in 2015, and although some of its competitors, HelloFresh and Blue Apron, are still in business, they have also suffered some losses recently.
