For The Crispiest Oven-Baked Bacon, Use Aluminum Foil
By Michael Serrur
Bacon is fatty and releases a lot of grease, but if you want a magnificently crispy texture with easy clean-up, cook your bacon in the oven on an aluminum foil-lined baking sheet.
Many prefer this method over a frying pan because it reduces the risk of a grease splatter, doesn't require constant attention, and can make a greater quantity at one time.
However, there's more than one way to bake your bacon. Factors like time, temperature, type of baking sheet, and the material (if any) used to line it affect the outcome.
An aluminum lining creates evenly cooked bacon that's crunchy front to back. With a bare sheet pan, your bacon likely cooks unevenly on one side.
You can pick up the aluminum and drain the remaining fat into a jar or other waste receptacle. Line the sheet pan so the foil hangs over the sides and the grease doesn't leak.
Once you have your perfectly crispy bacon, you can serve it with eggs for breakfast or use it as a topping on burgers, sandwiches, or a bowl of your favorite macaroni and cheese.
