Do You Need A Steamer Pot To Properly Steam Food?
By Haldan Kirsch
Steaming is one of the best cooking methods available because it preserves more nutrition than other cooking methods, and it’s great at keeping the color, shape, and texture of vegetables. It’s also a quick and easy way to prepare a meal, and, above all else, it doesn’t require specialized and fancy kitchen equipment.
Even though Cuisine At Home says that a steamer pot is the best way to steam food, there are actually various other ways to have a healthy steamed meal. The Woks Of Life recommends steamer baskets, which are made from lighter materials, and all you need to add is a wok or pan at the bottom to place the water in.
If you only steam food once in a while, you can create a makeshift steamer with a pot, a plate, and some aluminum foil, or even a heatproof or metal colander. Otao Kitchen recommends putting food in a microwave-safe dish, sprinkling a few drops of water on top, covering it with a perforated plastic wrap, and microwaving it for a few minutes.
