Cracker Barrel's hash brown preparations are particularly beloved among customers, and a Reddit thread shed light on whether the popular side dish is served fresh or frozen.
A Cracker Barrel employee noted, "Our recipe is pretty simple. It's like onions, cheese, margarine, cream soup base, salt, pepper, and frozen hash browns."
It appears the chain favors frozen hash browns over fresh. Cracker Barrel's website lists certain items as being made from scratch, but hash browns are conspicuously absent.
Despite Cracker Barrel's preference for homemade food, the process would slow kitchen staff immensely, which could frustrate customers seeking their favorite hash brown dishes.
Cracker Barrel's hash browns may arrive at the restaurant frozen, but their hashbrown casserole, loaded hashbrown casserole, and hash brown tater tots are delicious.
