Despite Its Name, Using Too Much Filling Is A Grilled Cheese Nightmare
By Stacie Adams
When it comes to making grilled cheese, the amount of cheese you use is an important factor to consider if you want your sandwich to come out gooey and melted to perfection.
You may think there can never be too much cheese in your sandwich, but this is a surefire way to derail your meal. A ton of cheese takes forever to melt while the sandwich cooks.
Waiting too long for the cheese to melt can burn the outside of the bread, but taking the sandwich out before it burns can leave the excess cheese unmelted.
For grilled cheese with a melty interior and crispy exterior, a single slice of cheese will melt quicker than two or three slices, making it the best amount for a great sandwich.
If a single slice of cheese isn’t enough, one cup of shredded cheese will ensure a faster melting process so both the bread and cheese will be consecutively cooked to perfection.
