Deep Fry Your Deviled Eggs For A Superbly Crunchy Appetizer
By Laura Zbinden
Deviled eggs are amazing, but if you want to mix up this classic side dish, try deep-fried deviled eggs for a bite of creamy and crispy deliciousness.
Slice each hard-boiled egg in half lengthwise and separate the yolks into a bowl. Fill a deep pan with about three inches of oil, and heat it on the stove until it reaches 350 F.
Coat the boiled egg whites in a mixture of flour, salt, and pepper, and then submerge them in a bowl of whisked raw egg.
Dunk your egg whites in a mixture of bread crumbs and parmesan. Once all the egg whites have been dredged through all three batter and breading stations, they're ready to fry.
When the oil is hot enough, lower the eggs into the pan and fry for three minutes or until golden brown. Once they're done, remove them and set them on paper towels to drain.
To prepare the filling, grab the bowl of egg yolks and crush them with a fork. Add mayonnaise, mustard, salt, pepper, and paprika for a traditional taste.
You may also consider adding a dash of white vinegar or hot sauce to the mix to cut the heavy fried flavor or add a little burst of acidity.
