Break Out The Crackers For Craveworthy Bite-Size Tuna Melts
By Jonathan Kesh
Tuna melts may not have a glamorous reputation, but tuna and cheese are a versatile and mild-flavored combo. Tiny tuna melts on crackers are perfect for the hor d'oeuvres table.
For something simple, just mix a can of tuna with mayonnaise and celery, and then scoop out the results onto crackers — you can use Ritz crackers, saltines, or fancier varieties.
Sprinkle them with shredded cheddar cheese and lemon juice for flavor and moisture, then bake them in the oven at 350 F for a few minutes or microwave them for 15 to 20 seconds.
Tuna melts often use shredded cheddar or American cheese since they melt better. You can also opt for sliced havarti, swiss, or pepper jack.
If you're willing to challenge tradition about what ingredients belong on a melt, you can add other fixings, like sliced jalapeño peppers, hot sauce, crushed red peppers, and more.
