Andrew Zimmern's Top Tip For Upgrading Your Grocery Store Experience
By Betsy Parks
With grocery store prices hitting a 40-year high thanks to inflation (per the Wall Street Journal), many shoppers are looking for more ways to stretch their money. For those deterred by coupon clipping or bulk shopping, Andrew Zimmern from the Travel Channel's "Bizarre Foods" shares the best tip for effective and affordable food sourcing.
Andrew Zimmern's top piece of advice for elevating your grocery store experience is to shop at local Asian and Mexican grocery stores. In an educational video, Zimmern takes viewers on a tour of his local Mexican, Asian, and Italian grocery stores, saying that each market is "a place to get high-quality ingredients at a great price and with a fabulous selection."
While international food stores provide meat and produce at a much lower price than big supermarkets, they also help to expand your palate. From ingredients such as specialty greens and packaged dumplings to cuts of meat like beef skirt steak and whole pork belly, you'll see offerings that aren't typically sold at larger chains for a much better value.
