All You Need Is Pasta To Turn Canned Soup Into A Hearty Meal
By Ashlyn Frassinelli
Soup is typically a low-calorie and low-volume meal, and while it's perfect for throwing together a fast lunch, it can leave your stomach growling later in the day.
A simple and inexpensive way to make it a more filling and wholesome meal is to add pasta and other grains to add a bit of bulk and fiber to the soup and increase satiety.
If you have leftover pasta, stir it into the hot soup and enjoy. With dry pasta, cook the noodles separately according to the package instructions or directly in the soup.
The pasta will absorb the liquid in the soup, so you can add a little extra water or chicken stock to bulk up the dish.
Fusilli, macaroni, rigatoni, penne, and ditalini work well in canned soup, and egg noodles complement chicken soup. If you want long noodles, use vermicelli instead of spaghetti.
