All You Need For Delicious Mashed Potatoes Is Some French Onion Dip
By Grace Allison
Mashed potatoes are creamy, hearty, delicious, and comforting. While there are many mashed potato varieties, the dish can be enhanced by adding French onion dip.
For this recipe, you can easily use potato flakes and store-bought dip to speed up the process. Begin by boiling 3 cups of water, 1 ½ cups of milk, and ⅓ of a cup of butter.
Once boiling, remove from the heat and slowly stir in 4 cups of potato flakes. In a separate bowl, mix a packet of cream cheese and French onion dip.
Stir the dip into the potato flake mash and season with 1 ½ teaspoon of garlic salt. Bake the mixture, uncovered, in the oven for 30-35 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
Prevent dry mashed potatoes by drizzling a teaspoon of melted butter and a sprinkle of paprika beforehand. Once baked, let it sit for at least 5 minutes.
If you plan on using fresh potatoes, use Yukon Gold as their buttery flavor suits French onion dip. Omit the water and adjust the amount of milk and butter in the recipe.
Whether your potatoes are fresh or flaked, top them off with caramelized onions or deep-fried onion rings. You can also sprinkle the mash with chopped chives or parsley.
