Aldi Vs Walmart: Where Should You Buy Chicken Broth?
By Camryn Teder
If you need to restock on chicken broth, you may be tempted to head to Aldi or Walmart to save some money, and Walmart seems to be the better option.
While prices vary per location, Walmart sells chicken broth at a slightly lower price. The difference is only a few cents — $1.37 for a one-quart package versus $1.45 at Aldi.
There are other factors to consider besides cost, including nutritional value. Both products have the same base ingredients of chicken broth and salt.
Aldi's broth contains sugar, carrots, celery, and onion powder, while Walmart's contains no sugar and concentrated juices of carrot, celery, and onion, among other ingredients.
When comparing nutrition labels, Aldi's broth has slightly more sodium, with 860 milligrams, than Walmart's broth, with 830 milligrams. Each product contains one gram of protein.
Walmart also has dozens of chicken broth varieties online, from organic choices to bulk packages. Aldi has similar options, but not as many as Walmart.
Aldi shoppers on Reddit claim that the chicken broth is "just fine" and may not be worth purchasing. Walmart's customers seem happy with its product, saying they love the value.
