Add Parmesan To Pasta Before The Sauce, And Thank Us Later
By Angel Albring
Pasta can be combined with a variety of sauces, herbs, spices, and types of cheeses to create many delicious and flavorful dishes. Adding any type of cheese to pasta will result in a winning combination, but parmesan is a particularly scrumptious choice, especially when you add it before the sauce rather than after.
Grated or shredded parmesan cheese is a common topping for pasta dishes, but for the most flavor, you should add it directly to the pasta after it has been cooked and drained, while it’s still hot. This allows the cheese to melt, be distributed evenly, and become infused into the pasta itself before you add your sauce, top with more cheese, and dig in.
To help your cheese better stick to the pasta, use shredded or grated cheeses that melt faster, and be sure to cook the pasta in salted water to make it a little sticky and help the cheese adhere better. Reserve about half a cup of the water your pasta cooks in and add it back into your pasta with the cheese to create a creamy sauce, if desired.
