Foursquare Tips

  • A stylish, metropolitan bar with a New York vibe might not seem like a haven for craft beer, but Stoddards has emerged as a theatergoers destination with more than 20 oft-rotating taps.
  • The password is: craft beer. This speak-easy has craft beer galor and 5 beers on cask at all times. Best cask beer selection in Boston.
  • Since the taps are so spread out and change so often, you'll want to ask for a draft menu.
  • lobster hush puppies!
  • Watch out for bears!
  • The foot rail is old green line rail.
  • Drink cocktails from Jerry Thomas 1868 book How to Mix Drinks, like The Deal Breaker which involves Wild Turkey 101, Campari, Grand Marnier, Amaro Montenegro, and a weird fascination with its mother.
  • The Aged Gouda & Cask Ale fondue with homemade soft pretzel bites is ridiculously good.
  • One of Boston's best beer spots, there is something on tap to please every palate. Stop in at Craft Beer Cellar later to take home a mix-pack of beer from your favorite brewery/breweries!
  • Not the place if you truly care about craft cocktails. Interesting drinks, but if you're charging a premium, take more than 20 seconds (twice). Oh, and "It's late, I can't recommend anything"? Really?
  • Have a craft beer, order the rabbit, and enjoy
  • Delicious burgers and wonderful selection of craft brews. Can get busy on the weekends so make a reservation if you are coming for dinner.
  • The duck is phenomenal.
  • I think the stairs to the washrooms are a sobriety test! #steep
  • Great selection of beers on tap, and the Zombie cocktail is an irresistible combo with absinthe and flambeed cherry (among other ingredients)
  • Stay and eat. The duck was delicious, Pricey, but worth it if you're looking for great atmosphere.
  • Cool place, but the service is terrible.
  • Their pickles are homemade and super yummy. Deviled eggs great too!
  • Stay away from the casks, way overpriced for Boston @ $10. But they have a pretty good tap list, which ranges up to $7 for a lot of pours... still on the pricey side, but not crazy for downtown.
  • They don't serve Guiness!
