  • Collard Greens and Cornbread...what more could a Southern boy ask for
  • Southern and Low Country dishes prepared with heart by owners James and Renee Bazelle at this Uptown favorite where everybody takes out-of-town guests. It's Charlotte's version of NYC's Sylvia's.
  • The food is just average. The salmon cakes I had were barely seasoned. The macaroni n' cheese was good. The sweet tea was ok. Service was good but I probably won't go back during my stay in Charlotte.
  • Red velvet cake was AH-MAZING!!
  • Get the Soul Food Egg Rolls. They are fantastic!
  • Huge disappointment in this establishment as the food was average at best. I noticed that most of the positive comments were made a few years ago, so I can only assume the quality has gone downhill.
  • Try the soul roll. Awesome!!!
  • The Salmon Cakes, The Salmon Cakes, The Salmon Cakes-Did I Mention the Salmon Cakes!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • The food here was pretty delicious. The catfish I had was EXCELLENT but their collards weren't that great. The Mac and Cheese is also a great choice. Also their cakes are GREAT.
  • Dank as hell!
  • The Shrimp and Grits are a must have. Get as much cornbread as you can because no restaurant does it this good. Shrimp Creole was amazing, have plenty of sweet tea to wash it down though.
  • Fried shrimp po' boy sandwich is delicious.
  • Came to dine during ACC Championship. Great friendly service, centrally located downtown, a spot we recommend to all visitors to the Charlotte area.
  • Amazing soul and southern food...cornbread tastes divine!
  • They validate parking if you park at the Holiday-Inn right behind the restaurant!
  • One of the most friendly places in Charlotte, a great way to start a weekend is with breakfast at Mert's. I like the southern faire: fried whiting fish and eggs & fried green tomatoes.
  • I had the fried bone-in catfish - it was AMAZING!!! And don't be afraid of the bones...the catfish falls off so easily!!!
  • Great food, rude server
  • Best soul food ever!!!! Great home cooking & they make u feel like family.
  • Blackened pork chops, red beans and rice! Love love!
