Tips
- Cutest cafe in NYC! The Tokyo blend coffee is delicious and the food a great deal -- try the omurice for a different spin on brunch.
- Athough the Porto Rico coffee is authentically brutal, this Japanese-style East Village cafe provides a charming, slow-paced, lunch experience - everything is prepared with care. At night a sake bar.
- Got to try the siphon coffee! I am not a big coffee drinker but this place had a great coffee. One of best in the town.
- Katsu sandwich for lunch is bomb
- Cafe by day and sake bar by night. In the afternoons they serve lunch, including an impressive pork katsu and seasonally appropriate Japanese vegetables.
- Come in for a sake cocktail & snacks while waiting for a table @ Shabu Tatsu - the places are connected so let the restnt know and get collected for dinner instead of waiting in the cold!
- This Japanese coffee shop -or should I say bar- is something else. Slow coffee is what they do and the syphon and hario where outstanding!
- What a special place. Unlike any of the army of MacBook coffee shops in the City. Coffee is high-grade and artfully brewed. Definitely get a siphon coffee and spend the next 20 mins escaping.
- Yuichiro is the man!!
- Go twice because it's coffee bar by day and sake bar by night. The siphon coffee is amazing and the food at night is just awesome. Get the octopus and a bottle of sake. The presentation is extravagant.
- This place is a gem. Perfect for a relaxing cup of coffee on a quiet afternoon.
- Gem of a coffee shop that really knows their stuff - pick from French Press, AeroPress or Siphon, and enjoy the show; grab a quick bite at Curry-Ya next door then end with coffee and dessert here!
- Siphon coffee and hot cakes. Amazing.
- Everything. Just everything. Perfect.
- Coffee served with care, attention to every detail. Get the hot cakes and a siphon to stay.
- The drinks are amazing. Decor and ambience are both great.
- Distinct #chocolate notes enliven Hi-Collar's Tokyo Blend #coffee.
- Tiny spot for Coffee during the day and Sake at night. Bring a date!
- Friendly staff! The katsu sandwich is delicious and the mizudashi coffee is really good!
- Berkshire Pork Katsu Sando: Only 10 are made a day; The tender Berkshire pork is panko-crusted and fried. Its served with bulldog sauce [Japanese Worcestershire], side of pickles, and potato salad.
