Tips

  • 76. Chicken hash at Ella's (from 7x7's 100 Things to Try Before You Die | http://tr.im/7x7list)
  • Chicken hash is yummy, but slightly underseasoned. Coffee is AWESOME!
  • Try something off the beaten path and go with the open face omelette with salmon. Always make sure to ask for your potatoes extra crispy too!
  • Poppyseed sour cream pancakes - delicious!
  • Biscuits and home made Jam! The chicken hash is also gooood.
  • The avocado omlette and strawberry pancakes are really tasty!
  • If you are curious what chicken hash looks like (as I was the first time I visited SF) here it is. Confirm it is delicious and also accompanied by a fresh biscuit the size of your head.
  • I had a scramble special with ground beef, spinach, cherry tomatoes, & cheese; sliced potatoes, and a biscuit-it was all savoury and amazing!
  • They have baskets of real toys for the kids. So good.
  • The eggs benedict comes and goes here, but when it is on the menu, we suggest you order three. The biscuits are soft and flaky, while the dish as a whole has a pesto flair, accented with prosciutto.
  • Chicken hash. Enough said.
  • It may be the best breakfast spot in the neighborhood. Weekday mornings are the best time to visit--weekends get crowded.
  • They only seat you when your entire party is present.
  • Ask for a coffee from the host- caffeinate while you wait.
  • Order the chicken hash! Delish!
  • Can't go wrong with any of the food here, especially the scrambles. Blood orange juice is amazing in season. And the freshly baked breads? Oh my yum.
  • We recommend the chicken hash...it's #76 on 7x7's Big Eat SF 2010.
  • Downward slide in recent years, but Chicken Hash is still solid.
  • Everything is amazing here. Breakfast sandwich is my go to. Special pancakes are usually great.
  • Fried cornmeal (polenta) has a nice little jalapeo zing to it.
