  • I've been in here for 28 seconds and I already love it.
  • A strong choice is deconstructed falafel with chickpeas and avocado, raw cauliflower, shaved fennel, mint, watercress, rice vinegar-pickled peaches, pickled red cabbage & sesame served on pita.
  • Counter Culture coffee + legit friendly baristas= good start to my work day
  • Amazing branding. Either some dude is crushing Acai berries or a model is taking your order and is more polite than mother Teresa. Kind of want to live here, and the iced coffee is next level.
  • Get the sesame banana bread. I was skeptical too, but it's really tasty.
  • The worlds best kale salad, tossed in a chunky dressing made from ground almonds, almond milk, garlic, and lemon zest, and even better adorned with avocado del sur.
  • This downtown cafe has a great vibe even at 8 in the morning. The coffee and pastries are truly special but definitely try the grits bowl with braised pork, and frittata with fennel salad.
  • Best Kale Salad in NYC. get it loaded! - foodie magician
  • There's good wi-fi (password is ElReyPublic), but computer beware!: no outlets. A great, tiny little spot with good coffee served by a friendly staff.
  • My new favorite LES coffee shop!
  • Mexican iced mocha on draft is alone worth a pop-in. Spiced with chili flakes and cinnamon, Counter Culture black coffee is topped with sweetened condensed milk, w Mexican chocolate and fresh mint.
  • Best Cortado I had in New York
  • Yo, get the kale salad even if you're not a hipster. It comes with an almond dressing and is topped with shaved almonds. A small one will do ya good.
  • El Rey occupies the old d'Espresso space but offers coffee that's at least an order of magnitude better in both sourcing (Counter Culture) and preparation. Try the Vietnamese coffee and baked goods.
  • Skip the cold press and order the Vietnamese coffee on tap. It's a whole other level of cafe goodness.
  • Try the grains and crudit salad! And add the beet pickled egg!
  • Vietnamese iced coffee on tap and friendly service!
  • No outlets.
  • The kale salad (+ egg & avocado) is the best I've ever had. The almond vinaigrette & lemon zest push it to the next level...
  • Seen in Episode 10 of "Master of None"
