This bar in the Clift Hotel was established in 1934, and its class has definitely remained. Shell out a bit of dough for some well-made cocktails from its list of unique combinations, and you won't regret a single penny.

Foursquare Tips

  • look at the paintings on the wall. they are actually videos and they move very slowly. some only blink. i love it.
  • Ask your server about the artist and inspiration behind the portrait installation. Hmmm who is cheating on who...
  • When you want to prove to your lady that you're a man, and not just a guy, this is the place to grab a low-slung couch and enjoy the good life.
  • Two words: Lychee Martinii
  • Order the Redwood Rm Martini, perfect combination of Blue Cheese olives w/ vodka.
  • Go out into the hotel lobby and lie down under that big chair. Then look up I swear it's not just a bunch of boogers.

  • This was my favorite bar during my vacation in SF. Good-looking drinks, good-looking people and superb staff, esp. Jackie and Mike. The atmosphere is classy but still nicely cozy, plus cool interiors!
