Old-Fashioned Peach Cobbler

Ingredients
  • 1 stick unsalted butter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar, plus 1/4 for topping
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3 cup fresh peaches, sliced (use frozen or canned if peaches aren’t in season)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Sift the flour, salt and baking powder together.
  3. Stir in sugar.
  4. Slowly stir in milk.
  5. Melt butter in a 10-inch cast-iron skillet or a 9-inch pan.
  6. Pour batter over butter and do not stir.
  7. Lay peaches on top of the batter.
  8. Sprinkle with up to 1/4 cup sugar and the ground cinnamon.
  9. Bake uncovered for 45 minutes to 1 hour.
  10. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
