Ingredients

  • 14 Ounces (one can) sweetened condensed milk
  • Butter, for rolling
  • 1 Tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 Cup sugar

Directions

Pour the sweetened condensed milk into a small saucepan and place the pan over medium-high heat.

Stirring constantly, cook the sweetened condensed milk until thickened. You’ll know it’s ready when you draw a line through the sweetened condensed milk and it takes a few seconds for the line to fill itself back in.

Pour the cooked sweetened condensed milk into a wide, shallow dish (like a heat-proof baking dish) and allow it to cool.

When the sweetened condensed milk has cooled, rub a small amount of butter on your hands and then roll the sweetened condensed milk into small balls.

In a small bowl, combine the cinnamon and sugar with a fork. Mix until well combined.

Roll the brigadeiros into the cinnamon sugar and then refrigerate until ready to serve.

Cinnamon Shopping Tip

Spices and dried herbs have a shelf life too, and lose potency over time. The rule of thumb is, if your spices are over two years old, it's time to buy some new ones.

Cinnamon Cooking Tip

Toasting whole spices before using them intensifies their aroma and flavor.
