Prost! May 4th Is Maifest At Brauhaus Schmitz

Say Guten Tag to spring with The 1st Annual Maifest at Brauhaus Schmitz, one of Philly's finest and most authentic German bierhalls. On May 4, from 12-8pm, this festive spring celebration will run down South Street, all the way from 8th to Front Streets. On what will hopefully be a lovely, frolic-worthy spring day, the Brauhaus will break out a 20-foot Maipole, festoon the streets with fresh flowers, and be serve up German fare and frosty mugs of fresh, seasonal brews in bustling beer gardens.

Admission to the festival is free, but there are also some super limited VIP packages which will make this a Maifest to remember (blissful, hazy, beer-soaked memories). VIP benefits include: a three hour buffet of German appetizers prepared by Chef Jeremy Nolan, access to the VIP Brauer Bund Room where special release imports will be poured, five private bathrooms, and eight (!) tickets which can be redeemed for beer from the VIP list or food stands. Throw in a commemorative beer stein, and you're really looking at a whole lot of great perks for $100. VIP packages can be purchased here.

But for those who want to keep it cheap, the ample selection of beer and food for purchase plus the inexhaustible joy of drinking outdoors, will still guarantee all the makings for a great street festival!
