Whether you adore Valentine's Day (February 14) or just wish Cupid would fly into oblivion, a delicious glass of sparkling Rosé is a perfect match for the occasion. Here are three of my favorite pretty-in-pink sparkling wines from Spain, France, and Italy - three countries known for romance and great wine!
Vilarnau Brut Rosado Cava ($18)
A sip of this lovely bubbly transported me back to Barcelona and sweet memories of a certain handsome young Spanish man. A delicious blend of Trepat (90%) with a dash of Pinot Noir (10%), Vilarnau Brut Rosado Cava is fresh and crisp with harmonious flavors of raspberries & strawberries with a hint of brioche and roses. This sexy sip delivers elegant flavor at a great price.
Berlucchi '61 Franciacorta Brut Rosé NV ($22.99)
I'm a big fan of this elegant sparkling wine from Italy's Lombardy region. Made in the traditional Champagne style, I find Franciacorta more nuanced and less sweet than the more well-known Prosecco. Berlucchi Franciacorta Brut Rosé has fine bubbles and elegant hints of brioche, berries, and minerality. Every sip is a delight.
Moët & Chandon Impérial Rosé NV (mini $20, $55 for traditional bottle)
For that very special someone, sometimes only Champagne will suffice and Moët & Chandon is an iconic brand known around the world for elegance and quality. Vibrant and sophisticated, this blend of classic Champagne grapes Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, and Chardonnay has a seductive bouquet of red berries with a hint of rose and pepper - the taste is divine. Even if love isn't in the air, it will certainly be in your wine glass!
