Tips

  • Pete's hasn't closed since 1851. It was even open during prohibition, disguised as a 'flower' shop speakeasy.
  • Sex and the city happened here. This is where Miranda took the reins and proposed to Steve "over three-dollar beers."
  • Great drinks.
  • A New York classic and all around great neighborhood spot. The Gramercy burger is particularly good (and all burgers are cooked to perfection).
  • if you're drinking beer, get the the 1864 House Ale. Very good.
  • O. Henry was a regular at this bar and lived down the street at 55 Irving Place between 1903 to 1907. At the time, Pete's Tavern was called Healy's. O. Henry mentions the bar in "The Lost Blend."
  • Built 1829. A "grocery & grog" store from 1852 and a tavern from 1864. Named Healy's in 1899 and alluded to in O.Henry's works. Renamed Pete's in 1932. Appears in numerous films and TV shows.
  • The chicken parm is off the chain
  • Experience one of the best Old New York bars by having a beer in the booth where O. Henry penned Gift of the Magi.
  • Overprice, disgusting salad. Woof.
  • Story has it that the physical bar is considered the oldest bar in NYC
  • Penne Melanzane. Add chicken. House pinot noir. delicious!
  • Cute, simple and down to earth. Just what you need
  • Awesome history! Nice IPA!! Get the burgers, you will thank me later. You're welcome!
  • Really cool spot with a great history.
  • Oldest tavern in Manhattan, good for drinks but skip the food, overpriced and nothing special.
  • A classic that never gets old. Great for a group, a game or a date. A+ for ambience, brews and bar food.
  • Garrett is a dick
  • 45 yrs in NYC; 1st time @ Pete's. But not the last.
  • Don't tell them to hold the lettuce and tomato on your sandwich. They will charge you $1 for each item you don't want on your sandwich.
