Tips

  • The first baseball game ever played at Petco Park, on March 11, 2004, was the first game of a four-team NCAA invitational tournament hosted by San Diego State University.
  • I had the honor of throwing out the first pitch at this very stadium. As soon as I left the mound I was offered a 7-year contract. Unfortunately, I was not able fulfill due to a prior engagement.
  • The first ever game ever at PETCO featured Mr. Padre, Tony Gwynnbut not the Padres. As manager of San Diego States baseball team, Gwynn led the Aztecs to a W over the Houston Cougars on 3/11/04.
  • Patriotic. Powerful. Pride. Padres. More P words. The foghorn that sounds after every home run is actually a recording of the Navy's USS Ronald Reagan, based in San Diego. Perfect!
  • The Western Metal Supply Co. Building was constructed in 1909 and now houses the Padres Majestic Team Store, private party suites and rooftop bleacher seating.
  • Welcome to Petco Park! Check in using MLB.com At the Ballpark to unlock special offers and explore the stadium right from your phone. http://atmlb.com/I5lqn8
  • Use MLB.com At Bat on your Android, iPhone, iPad or iPod, BlackBerry or Windows 7 device to follow all the action on the field and around the league while you are at the park. http://atmlb.com/Hv4CBL
  • Top Dining Options: Baja Bistro at Section 205; Breakfast at the Park on the field starting at 10:30 am before the game, first come first serve!
  • Wear something with an "SD" logo and you'll get rewarded if you run into the team president
  • Get a Randy Jones BBQ sliced brisket sandwich (w/ extra sauce) in center field. Go to the Hall Of Fame Bar in left (if it's a blowout) & the Ballpark Brews stand on the first base side for good beer.
  • For great deals check out www.padres.com/promo use code"Friarhood"
  • Go to the Toyota Terrace Level in the 8th inning to get a beer (they don't stop serving after the 7th inning in this section).
  • Can't walk through on game days/nights. Must walk around if u live in the Ballpark District
  • Get the El Toro from Phil's BBQ in left field. Huge, great deal, and tastier than at the restaurant!
  • The stadium's first concert came on November 11, 2005, when it hosted The Rolling Stones.
  • Go up to Club .394 on the Toyota Terrace level to see Tony Gwynn memorabilia.
  • PETCO Park is a beautiful ballpark, and a great place to watch a baseball game. Park Pass tickets are great when you have young kids with limited attention spans. Check out our link for more info.
  • My dogs' fave place to poo! **be kind and clean up after your pets** :)
  • This is a good park to watch the Padres play baseball in.
  • Padres in the Gaslamp are Great at Petco Park
