Tips

  • Another loud filament light bulb filled gastropub employing the failsafe method to young professionals wallets of fried pickles, artisanal drinks, mac and cheese and tiles. Tear for Ship of Fools...
  • Oyster slides are pretty gross. Taste of the ocean....not in a good way. Didn't make me horny either.
  • Get the dirty pickle martini and skillet mac and cheese. You won't regret it!
  • Root beer and bourbon and earl grey lemonade with gin!
  • Get an Old Fashioned with Bullet Eye Whiskey and make sure the orange peel is burnt at the end. Crowd can be a bit pretentious and dominantly white but what do you expect from the UES?
  • Unusually cool downtown vibe on the Upper East at The Penrose! Awesome bartenders, unique (and delicious) cocktails. Great interior design. Great with friends or a date.
  • A lot of pretty people. Not your typical UES bar. Dress to impress, wear your good shoes. People watch from the corner of the front bar. You'll never go bored.
  • spicy. pickle. martini. Hi em and ant!!
  • Adorable date spot! Lots of opportunities for great body language with the different seating arrangement options.
  • Get the pickle martini!
  • This place is like steerage on the titanic.
  • Finally, a proper mixology gastropub in the UES. While close to the 2nd ave douchebars, it seems to be a haven for what passes for a hipster on the UES. The fried oyster sliders are great.
  • Order a couple Old Pal Spencers and then try the burger
  • The Upper East Side. Ruairi Curtin. Irish Gastropub. Try - Spiced beef sandwich (cured for 40 days, spiced in house for four days, then slow roasted for six hours). Cocktails made with Irish whiskey.
  • It's fun bc there's nothing else like it on the UES but be prepared for a 23 year old fratty/preppy crowd. Just have another beer.
  • Brunchtime? Get the bacon, egg, and oyster sandwich. Best. Brunch. Ever.
  • pickle martini all the way
  • Try to come early btw 7-9 to get a table. Recommend the Mac N Cheese, the oyster sliders and the yummy spiked lemonade.
  • Great burger. Fresh fries. Spiced beef sandwich is salty and delicious. Pickles are spicy!
  • feels wonderfully out of place on the upper east side. fried pickles. yum. also, spiced meat sandwich. also, beer.
