Unless you’re one of those extremely prepared people who carries a corkscrew on their keychain, chances are good that there will come a day in your life when you experience a wine emergency.
As in, you have the wine, but no way to get it out of the bottle. Or so you think!
In this handy (or footsy?) video from Mirabeau Wine, you’ll learn how to open a bottle of wine with only your shoe and a sturdy vertical surface. In this case, our narrator demonstrates with a flip flop and a tree, but you certainly can use a heftier shoe.
While we don’t recommend that you throw away all your corkscrews, it seems smart to file away this knowledge in case you find yourself in a situation where no one thought to bring a wine key. It’ll happen eventually, and you’ll be there to step in and save the day!
