The World's First Organic McDonald's Burger Is Here

Continuing its quest to rebrand itself as a fancier and trendier fast food option, McDonald's is going organic. For the first time, the Golden Arches will be releasing an organic beef burger, the McB, with beef sourced from organic farms in Germany, and luxe toppings like Edam cheese, Lollo Bionda lettuce, and sunflower-seed buns, according to Quartz.

Unfortunately the McB will only be available in Germany, and will be on the menu only for a limited run in October. But this could be a sign of menu changes to come, and we're keeping our fingers crossed that the McB (as well as its spicier alternative, the Long McB with organic beef, arugula, Maasdam cheese, red onion rings, tomato, and a spicy sauce, premiering at the end of October), will pop up on American menus soon.

Germany has pretty strict regulations for what can be labeled organic, and according to the Huffington Post, the beef "has been subjected to elaborate certification procedures by state-approved organic inspection bodies."

McDonald's has pledged to serving sustainable, grass-fed beef in its United States restaurants since 2010.
