Makers Of Wonder Bread Are Nation's Most Republican Company

A study of data collected by the Federal Election Commission between 1979 and 2014 reveals some interesting information about the political leanings of the major companies in the United States.

For instance, based on its history of political donations, the most Republican company in America is not Koch Industries, but Flower Foods, the Georgia-based company behind brands like Wonder Bread, Nature's Own, and Mi Casa.

According to The New York Times, Flower Foods has given more than 99 percent of its political contributions to Republicans since 1979.

"Only three Democratic congressional candidates have gotten money from its PAC since 1984, and not one in the past 20 years," noted the publication.

Even more startling:

"The PAC of Koch Industries, the well-known supporter of Republican candidates and conservative causes, has given nearly as much money to Democrats in the past 14 months as Flowers Foods has in more than 30 years."
