Mokbar Is Offering An 'Anti-Valentine's Day' Black Ramen Special

If you're single as all get out this Valentine's Day, lean into the blackness of your heart with a meal as dark as you feel. Just kidding: celebrate your independence! But do consider the Black Valentine's Day Special from Mokbar in New York City's Chelsea Market: the black ramen from chef Esther Choi, paired with a homemade black cherry soju cocktail.

Chef Choi's black ramen uses craft ramen noodles from the Sun Noodle factory and is based on jajangmyeon, a dish of black bean noodles. Jajangmyeon is traditionally eaten on Black Day in Korea, an unofficial holiday during which singles dress in black and commiserate.

In Korea, Black Day falls on April 14, but Mokbar's own Black Valentine's Day will be held, of course, on February 14. The special will be available from 3 p.m. until 10 p.m. for $17. This price includes the soju you'll need to drink away your feelings.
