Colonel Sanders To Make Debut In Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

For the first time in American history, KFC's Colonel Sanders will appear in the annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, a nationally broadcasted event that kicks off the holiday season, or at least the shopping portion.

This year, during Macy's 89th parade, the Colonel — who returned this year as KFC's official mascot and will be played by a rotating cast of actors in ads for the chain — will be honored in a massive float that celebrates his journey to Kentucky Fried Chicken.

According to a press release, the float will bring to life the Colonel's "early days in Corbin, Kentucky where he perfected his secret blend of 11 herbs and spices, the very first Kentucky Fried Chicken franchise located in Salt Lake City, Utah; an 18-ft long replica of his famous white limo that allowed him to visit his numerous restaurants across the country," and finally, "a bucket of surprises setting the stage for a down-home performance."
